Child Therapy in Charleston, SC
Evidence-based support for children, teens, and families. In-person appointments in West Ashley and telehealth for eligible clients throughout South Carolina.
When your child is struggling with worry, sadness, or behavior, it can be difficult to know how to help. You may notice more arguments at home, problems at school, or changes in how your child handles everyday situations.
Cognitive & Behavioral Health Center of Charleston, LLC, provides child and adolescent therapy tailored to each child’s age, needs, and goals. Our clinicians use cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and other appropriate approaches to address emotional and behavioral concerns.
Concerns We Help Children and Teens Address
Our clinicians work with children, adolescents, and families experiencing concerns such as:
Anxiety, excessive worry, and fears
Depression, sadness, and irritability
ADHD-related emotional and behavioral difficulties
Anger, defiance, and conflict at home
Grief, loss, and reactions to stressful or traumatic experiences
Family changes, relationship difficulties, and adjustment concerns
If you are unsure whether your child’s concerns are a good fit for our practice, contact our office. We can help you explore the appropriate service and clinician availability.
CBT for Children and Adolescents
CBT explores how thoughts, feelings, and actions influence one another. For children and teens, therapy uses developmentally appropriate ways to understand these connections and practice new skills.
Depending on your child’s needs, treatment may focus on recognizing emotions, responding to unhelpful thoughts, managing frustration, solving problems, or building more helpful behavior patterns. Goals are individualized rather than the same for every child.
Support for Parents and Caregivers
Parents and caregivers can play an important role in helping children use therapy skills in everyday life. Depending on your child’s needs and treatment plan, parent involvement may include discussing concerns, learning ways to respond to difficult behavior, and supporting practice between appointments.
C&B also provides family therapy when appropriate, with attention to communication, relationships, and concerns affecting the family as a whole.
